Robin's story

Robin, a Kamilaroi woman, survived breast cancer and is now dedicated to helping other women who have been diagnosed with cancer.

Robin is a Kamilaroi woman who has lived in Dubbo for many years. Robin went with a friend to have her first screening mammogram when the BreastScreen NSW mobile screening unit was at her local Aboriginal Medical Service. It was fortunate that she did, as the mammogram detected a lump in her breast that was found to be breast cancer.

Following her diagnosis Robin has become a passionate advocate for breast screening and a dedicated supporter of women experiencing cancer. Robin started the first Aboriginal cancer support group in NSW so that no woman would have to face cancer without the support of her sisters.
